Magic Johnson, the man who gave us “showtime” with the Los Angeles Lakers, turned 50 years old yesterday on August 14th. The night before his birthday, he and Cookie hit up the Annual Harold Pump Foundation Gala honoring Bill Russell and himself.
All the great athletes of our time came out to celebrate with Magic and Bill. Magic’s best friend and kissing buddy, Isaiah Thomas, Julius Erving, Sugar Ray Leaonard, Robert horry, Jim Brown, James Worthy, Smokey Robinson, Natalie Cole, Cedric, Warrend Moon and Johnny Mathis all descended on Beverly Hills to attend the event. Isaiah Thomas has landed another coaching job, but this time it’s in collegiate basketball. Even though his coaching tenure with the Knicks went south, as did his position as team president, Isaiah still has a plethora of basketball knowledge to dish out. Isaiah Thomas is denying reports that he overdosed on pills last week. But the popo who responded to the call that came from his crib says it was him.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP)—Officers who responded to Isiah Thomas’ home after a 911 call reporting an overdose on sleeping pills found a man passed out on the floor and gave him oxygen until an ambulance arrived.
Authorities have not publicly identified Thomas as the victim, but a person familiar with the case has confirmed it was the former Knicks coach and NBA star. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because of privacy concerns. Read the rest of this entry »
