Tyler Perry made history Saturday night as he became the first African American to launch his own major TV and film studio. We keep telling folks that this is one super talented man. We love the way home skillet is branching out and conquering new territory without kissing Hollywood’s @ss. Keep killin’ em Tyler!

Google and Vanity Fair celebrated the Democratic National Convention with a party last night at the Exdo Event Center in Denver. Ashley Judd, Jamie Foxx, Spike Lee, his wife Tonya, Lynn Whitfield, and her daughter Grace Gibson all attended the event.

Sanaa Lathan who is still the most naturally beautiful actress in Hollywood was all smiles with her man, NFL player Adewale Qgunleye, as they were photographed at the 2008 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans at the Superdome. We can read some of you women’s minds right now as you’re reading this: “About time she got her own man and stopped A Keysin it up.” Bookman from Goodtimes and Bill Cosby were spotted busting it up. Tichina Arnold, Solange who looked flawless, Jill Scott, Patti LaBelle got her performance crackin, Boris Kojdoe and Keishia Knight Pulliam were spotted bugging out and Lynn Whitfield who looks like if one more morsel of calorie travels to her dome piece we’ll have a splattered human bobble head on our hands, also attended.

Actress Lynn Whitfield who we will always remember for her role in Thin Line Between Love and Hate attended an after party for the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend with her daughter Grace Gibson who looks just like her. That’s a pretty girl.

Boris Kodjoe and Cynthia Bailey celebrated their birthdays on Sat down in ATL at the Uptown Restaurant and Lounge. A few nice familiar faces came out including the beautiful and talented Sanaa Lathan. The stars came out last night in NY for the Broadway Opening of Debbie Allen’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” play. Among the attendees were legendary music mogul Berry Gordy, ladies’ favorite Boris Kodjoe, Terrence Howard and his daughter Heaven, Jeremy Piven, James Earl Jones, Pauletta Washington, Spike Lee and his wife Tonya, and actress Earth Kitt.
