Creflo Dollar responds to Senator’s Probe!!!

Posted by Media Outrage on November 13, 2007

Creflo Dollar

Pastor Creflo Dollar was on CBS News “The Early Show” and talked in-depth about the probing that was recently launched by Senator Charles Grassley, into the financial records of 6 Pastors of Mega-Churches.

Congress is looking into the collection boxes of some of the nation’s best-known televangelists.

Their tax-exempt ministries take in millions and now Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, is asking whether these churches really are non-profits.

Georgia megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar is one of the televangelists who was asked to provide financial information.

We don’t have any problems complying to a valid request,” Dollar told CBS News’ The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen.

But he questioned whether it was appropriate for the Senate Finance Committee “to become a tax examiner and to get involved in the information of private, nonprofit organizations when the IRS has already been assigned that responsibility.

Asked about some specific assertions by Grassley, Dollar denied that two Rolls-Royces were purchased by the church for him and his wife.

That’s not true. First of all, we don’t have two Rolls-Royces,” he said. “And secondly, the one Rolls-Royce that was purchased was purchased by the donors, or the members of the church, and it was a surprise to me. I had no idea they were doing it.”

Dollar also responded to claims that he tried to raise $1 million from other ministries to give to fellow evangelists Kenneth and Gloria Copeland to celebrate their anniversary, and that his ministry gave over half a million dollars.

Also not true,” Dollar said. “We didn’t give Kenneth $500,000, and we didn’t take it from our church. We sent letters to different ministers around the country inviting them to share in honoring Kenneth Copeland’s 40th anniversary. It’s an opportunity for people to do what they believe, and unless we completely got rid of the First Amendment, that’s our opportunity to believe that we can sow into a man of God’s life, be a blessing to him and celebrate his 40 years of service in the ministry.”

Asked whether there are televangelists who abuse the faith of believers and misuse church funds, Dollar said, “There are some bad apples out there. But we’ve got to make sure that in our fear to try to locate those bad apples that we don’t put everybody in that same bucket and automatically assume because of that fear that everybody is the same.”

Others under scrutiny include Copeland, faith healer Benny Hinn and one of the nation’s best known female preachers, Joyce Meyer.

Grassley sent letters to a half-dozen Christian media ministries earlier this week requesting answers by Dec. 6 about their expenses, executive compensation and amenities, including use of fancy cars and private jets.

In a statement, Grassley said he was acting on complaints from the public and news coverage of the organizations.

The allegations involve governing boards that aren’t independent and allow generous salaries and housing allowances and amenities such as private jets and Rolls-Royces,” Grassley said.

I don’t want to conclude that there’s a problem, but I have an obligation to donors and the taxpayers to find out more. People who donated should have their money spent as intended and in adherence with the tax code.”

Those ministries that responded Tuesday either said they were cooperating or committed to financial transparency and following the law.

The investigation promises to shine new light on the kind of TV ministries that were crippled by sex and money scandals in the 1980s. Experts also say it stands out as an unusual case of the government probing the inner workings of religious organizations.

Most of those under investigation preach a variation of the “prosperity gospel,” the teaching that God will shower faithful followers with material riches.

Indian Man marries a dog!?!?!?!?!

Posted by Media Outrage on November 13, 2007

indianman.jpg

This is by far the craziest thing our staff has come across. Read it for yourself.

A man in southern India married a female dog in a traditional Hindu ceremony as an attempt to atone for stoning two other dogs to death — an act he believes cursed him — a newspaper reported Tuesday.

P. Selvakumar married the sari-draped former stray named Selvi, chosen by family members and then bathed and clothed for the ceremony Sunday at a Hindu temple in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the Hindustan Times newspaper said.

Selvakumar, 33, told the paper he had been suffering since he stoned two dogs to death and hung their bodies from a tree 15 years ago.

“After that my legs and hands got paralyzed and I lost hearing in one ear,” he said in the report.

The paper said an astrologer had told Selvakumar the wedding was the only way he could cure the maladies. It did not say whether his situation had improved.

Deeply superstitious people in rural India sometimes organize weddings to dogs and other animals, believing it can ward off certain curses.

The paper showed a picture of Selvakumar sitting next to the dog, which was wearing an orange sari and a flower garland.

The paper said the groom and his family then had a feast, while the dog got a bun.

Well we know how they got it on honey moon night……..DOGGY-STYLE!!!

Karrine Steffans

More from Karrine Steffans as she did an interview with Pr.com…

PR.com: When you were on Jamie Foxx’s radio show, why did you say that Ray J (Ray J is an R&B singer and younger brother of singer Brandy) was gay?

Karrine Steffans: I don’t remember the Jamie Foxx show (The Foxx Hole on Sirius Satellite Radio) to tell you the truth. I don’t remember anything I said. The Jamie Foxx radio show is one of those things where Jamie’s a good friend of mine. We spent, I think, seven hours together that day on the beach having shots of Patron and drinking champagne and having a good time. Things were said that were just said. It was just good radio. People should stop taking things so literally and so seriously. It’s only radio.

TMZ is reporting….

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jan Adams has told TMZ that he was the doctor who performed cosmetic surgery on Kanye West’s mother Donda before she died.

Dr. Adams tells us West consulted with him over a period of four months. He says she changed her mind numerous times, sometimes greenlighting the surgery and sometimes halting it.

As for the TMZ report that Beverly Hills doctor Andre Aboolian refused to conduct the surgery because of a medical condition that West had, Dr. Adams said of Dr. Aboolian, “He is sleazy and manipulating the truth to elevate his own importance.”

Dr. Adams says he did nothing wrong.

T.I. confident that he’ll be found Not Guilty!!!!

Posted by Media Outrage on November 13, 2007

T.I.

In his first public statement since his arrest on federal weapons charges last month, rapper T.I. said he was spending his days writing songs for a new CD, expressed confidence that he will be found not guilty, and declared, “the king ain’t dead.”

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., spoke out in a 2 1/2 minute video message posted on Streetcred.com, a social networking Web site that Harris started.

The video, shot in Harris’ Jonesboro home, shows him sitting on a softly lit orange couch in a house robe and a stocking cap on his head.

You know, it’s a very trying time right now, but I want to let everybody know that I plead not guilty and I gotta stress my innocence, you know, to everyone out there who’s listening,” he says in the clip.

Harris, 27, added that he had faith in the system and looked forward to being exonerated.

God will never take you to what he can’t take you through,” he says in his message.

Harris said he was spending his free time reading, writing, and working on his new CD, “Paper Trail.”

Harris has gone most of his career without writing down any of his rhymes, emulating peers such as Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Ja Rule, according to MTV, the music television network. The title of his new CD comes from the fact that he has once again put ink to pad, the network reported.

The network, quoting Harris’ publicist, also said that an engineer was cleared to visit Harris a week and a half ago, and the two began working on songs.

I’m getting a lot of work done, man. A lot of music, man, being recorded,” Harris adds in his message. “But, my main message is, it’s not over. And the king ain’t dead.

He can continue to live in his Jonesboro home with his girlfriend and his children. He cannot consume alcohol. He can only have up to three visitors at a time, all of whom have to undergo a background check. And his movements are confined to his property.

Still, Harris appears to be taking his bond conditions well.

And thank you to the judge,” he says in the video, in a shout out to U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman, “for even allowing me the privilege of being on house arrest and being here — instead of, you know, the clear alternative.”

State Rep Carla Dartez calls her black supporter BuckWeat!!! How racist is this!!!

Posted by Media Outrage on November 13, 2007

Carla Dartez

A state representative in a runoff election infuriated civil rights leaders after she ended a conversation with the mother of the NAACP’s local president by saying, “Talk to you later, Buckwheat.”

State Rep. Carla Blanchard Dartez, of Morgan City, acknowledged she made the remark during a Thursday night telephone conversation with Hazel Boykin to thank her for driving voters to the polls.

Buckwheat, a black child character in the “Little Rascals” comedies of the 1930s and ’40s, is viewed as a racial stereotype demeaning to black people.

I made an insensitive comment when speaking with Hazel Boykin, and I have apologized to the Boykin family and publicly for my choice of words,” Dartez said in a statement. “I have a strong record of fighting for issues important to the African American community; in fact, I have a 93 percent voting record with the Black Caucus.”

And she is still running??? She’s a racist. Between her, Kramer, Don Imus, Bill O’Reilly, Bill O’Reilly, Bill O’Reilly, Bill O’Reilly, and Dog Duane Chapman, soon they’re going to need to form a KKK-unit for public officials and celebrities. She needs a good A-Town stomping by Bishop Thomas Weeks right about now….

Details of complications that might have led to the death of Kanye West’s mother Dr.Donda West.

Posted by Media Outrage on November 13, 2007

Kanye West and Dr.Donda West

The family of superstar rapper Kanye West are making funeral arrangements for Dr. Donda Williams-West in Oklahoma City.

A spokesperson for Howard-Harris Funeral home told KOCO Channel 5 in Oklahoma City that the family had contacted them in preparation for Dr. West’s funeral.

Dr. West , 58, was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Douglass High School in 1967.

She later earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia Union University in 1971.

While officials expect to release the official autopsy report on Wednesday, tmz.com reports that weeks before Dr. West died, a plastic surgeon refused to perform a tummy tuck and breast reduction because of a medical condition that could have led to a heart attack.

It has also been revealed that Dr. West was at her home when paramedics responded to a 911 call on Saturday (November 10) and took her to Centinela Freeman Hospital in Marina del Rey, California.

Attempts to resuscitate Dr. West were unsuccessful and paramedics pronounced her dead around 8:30 PM that evening.

Dr. West, who headed up Chicago State University’s English Department, was also board President of the Kanye West Foundation and served as the rapper’s manager.
