Diddy might have to pay $130million lawsuit

Posted by Media Outrage on March 17, 2008

Damn another lawsuit for this guy??? MTV is reporting that Diddy completed his deposition in the $130million civil lawsuit filed by Natania Reuben for the 1999 shooting that took place in a New York club by Shyne (Jamal Barrow who changed his name in 2006 to Moses Michael Leviy in honor of his Jewish heritage) in which she was shot in the face.

According to Shyne’s legal counsel, Oscar Michelen, Diddy completed his deposition on Wednesday, which now puts the wheels in motion for a trial date to be set, possibly as soon as early 2009.

If Diddy’s testimony in the deposition results in his being included in the civil lawsuit, he could potentially be on the hook for the entire payout, should Rueben win the case.

Mediaoutrage– Definitely didn’t know that Shyne changed his name nor that he had a Jewish heritage. Interesting. That shooting incident is definitely the reason why J-Lo jumped ship. We’re pretty sure her people advised her that the bad publicity could jeopardize her acting career.

Rick Fox speaks to Essence

Posted by Media Outrage on March 17, 2008

Rick Fox

Rick Fox spoke to Essence about his role in Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns. Is it true that you snagged your Meet the Browns role because Tyler Perry nearly hit you while you were jogging down Sunset?

Rick Fox: [Laughs] He almost did. I was finishing up a jog with my trainer when I saw this white Bentley turn the corner. The convertible top was down and he came to a stop. I could see it was Tyler Perry, and I said, “Tyler!” And he said, “Hey, Rick! Man, I’ve been waiting to meet you!” He told me how he had prayed about finding the right person for this role. And Jesus took the wheel—literally!

R.F.: [Laughs] Literally! I’ve been in this town for four years. I’ve been on auditions and done some TV work, but I’ve been waiting for someone to have faith that I could deliver in a [leading] role. I knew it was going to take someone who was a writer/director and had the power of a Tyler Perry, who would be willing to work with me. Read the rest of this entry »

Gabrielle Union covers Vegas Magazine

Posted by Media Outrage on March 17, 2008

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union spoke with Vegas Magazine recently….

Via Vegas Magazine:

“Anyone who has known me for a long time calls me Nikki. It has just been Nikki, literally since birth. I answer a lot faster.”

And if you think you saw the actress on Robertson Boulevard, the West L.A. thoroughfare with trendy boutiques and paparazzimagnet restaurants like the Ivy–it probably wasn’t her.

“You don’t go on Robertson unless you’re having a bad day or you’ve lost a lot of weight, [Or] I’ve had a crisis and I need to show that I’m happy and well adjusted. But a lot of psychologists are on Robertson, so some people can’t help it. My marriage counselor was on Robertson. ‘I’m here to show off my new boobs–there’s nothing wrong with my marriage.’ ”

Union is clearly more relaxed than she would have been on the other side of the hill–even on the subject of her marriage to former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Howard, which ended in 2006. “If it was a bad divorce it would be different,” she says. “We never had attorneys. Everyone’s like, ‘You’re a little too happy, maybe you should seem more somber.’ I feel almost bad! It helps that my ex-husband and I are best friends. I talk to him every day.”

Gabrielle takes her fair share of the blame for the split, attributing it more to her career than anything else. “It’s not about, Do I love you or not? It’s, Am I even home enough? And when you’re home, you’re studying for auditions, preparing for meetings, preparing for work. Or you’re at work and you’re gone for 19 hours a day.”

With a substantial variety of television and film roles on her resume, Union has built a career many actors would envy. Her latest films include The Box, an indie crime drama in which she plays a tough detective, and Starship Dave, a sci-fi comedy. While Gabrielle candidly says it points more to the fact that she “can’t really be choosy” rather than any artistic urge, she is selective about projects, just not in the way that most actors would be.

Jimmy Henchman denies Tupac allegations

Posted by Media Outrage on March 17, 2008

Jimmy Rosemond

Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond CEO of Czar Entertainment who is also Game’s manager and the father of the kid that Tony Yayo allegedly slapped. Well his people have hit with an official statement from Jimmy “Henchman”. Here’s what he had to say in response to this article written in the LaTimes naming him as one of the masterminds behind the Tupac ambush in a NY studio back in 1994.

“In the past 14 years, I have not even been questioned by law enforcement with regard to the assault of Tupac Shakur, let alone brought up on charges.  Chuck Phillips, the writer who in the past has falsely claimed that the Notorious Biggie Smalls was in Las Vegas when Tupac was murdered and that Biggie supplied the gun that killed Tupac — only to be proven wrong as Biggie was in New Jersey recuperating from a car accident, has reached a new low by employing fourth-hand information from desperate jailhouse informants along with ancient FBI reports to create this fabrication.  I simply ask all Rap fans and fans of Tupac to analyze this fiction for what it is along with Phillips’ motives behind it.  I am baffled as to why the LA Times would print this on its website when a simple and fair investigation would reveal that the allegations are false.  I am currently consulting with my attorneys about my legal rights regarding this libelous piece of garbage.”

Shouts to Rachel Noerdlinger for the heads up.

Diddy denies involvement in Tupac ambush

Posted by Media Outrage on March 17, 2008

Diddy has released a statement to AllHipHop in response to the article written Chuck Philips of the LaTimes in which he alludes to the possibility of Diddy’s involvement in the Tupac ambush.

“This story is beyond ridiculous and completely false. Neither Biggie nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. It is a complete lie to suggest that there was any involvement by Biggie or myself. I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.”

Was Diddy involved in Tupac ambush???

Posted by Media Outrage on March 17, 2008

LaTimes writer Chuck Philips has written an explosive investigative article that delves very deep into the first shooting of Tupac Shakur that took place in NY at the Quad Recording Studios back in 1994. In this article he is introducing evidence that supports the possibility that Diddy and the Notorious B.I.G. knew the ambush would take place.

Via LaTimes:

Tupac Shakur had been beaten, shot and left for dead at the Quad Recording Studios on New York’s 7th Avenue. As he was borne to a waiting ambulance through a swarm of paparazzi on Nov. 30, 1994, the rap star thrust his middle finger into the air.

It was a portentous moment in hip-hop — the start of a bicoastal war that would culminate years later in the killings of Shakur and rap’s other leading star, Christopher Wallace, better known as the Notorious B.I.G.

Now, newly discovered information, including interviews with people who were at the studio that night, lends credence to Shakur’s insistence that associates of rap impresario Sean “Diddy” Combs were behind the assault. Their alleged motives: to punish Shakur for disrespecting them and rejecting their business overtures and, not incidentally, to curry favor with Combs.

The information focuses on two New York hip-hop figures — talent manager James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond and promoter James Sabatino, who is now in prison for unrelated crimes. Read the rest of this entry »
