Al Sharpton arrested in NY during protest of Bell shooting

Posted by Media Outrage on May 7, 2008

We don’t care what other people say about Rev. Al Sharpton, in our opinion he is a pretty good leader in this day and time. This man will stand up against injustice when others won’t. He definitely gets a standing ovation from us here at

Via AP:

The Rev. Al Sharpton was arrested at the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday as he and hundreds of demonstrators blocked traffic to protest the acquittal of three detectives in the 50-bullet shooting of an unarmed black man on his wedding day.

Sharpton, two survivors of the shooting and the slain man’s fiancee were among about a dozen people arrested on disorderly conduct charges near the base of the bridge. Police led away demonstrators at several other bridges and tunnels in the city.

The protests were part of a coordinated campaign to urge federal authorities to investigate the November 2006 shooting of Sean Bell. Three officers were acquitted of state charges last month.

Sharpton, shooting survivors Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman, and Bell’s fiancee, Nicole Paultre Bell, lined up and peacefully put their hands behind their backs as police put plastic handcuffs on them. Sharpton and Bell were placed in a police vehicle. Read the rest of this entry »

$500 Million in a week

Posted by Media Outrage on May 7, 2008

The makers of Grand Theft Auto must be celebrating championship style with like 25 bottles of Mo, Crystal, Ace Of Spade and whatever other expensive ass bottles regular folks wouldn’t spend they light bill money on with the exception of dudes trying to impress chicks. Ok anyway the insanely popular video game Grand Theft Auto IV just hit stores last Tuesday April 29 and in a weeks time already made a staggering $500million.

Industry analyst projected that 5 million people would cop the game in its first two weeks, according to the New York Times. GTA sold 6 million in half that time.

The game beat out Halo 3’s 2007 record for pulling in $400 million in its first week, according to Reuters.

“Grand Theft Auto IV‘s first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment, and we believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date,” said Strauss Zelnick, chairman of Take-Two Interactive Software, which publishes the game.

“GTA 4” casts players as an Eastern European immigrant who gets into organized crime and begins running drugs, shooting cops and beating up hookers and has been compared to movies like The Godfather in its graphic violence.

Mediaoutrage– That’s a lot of chedda in one weeks time. Who has it already? And is it the best one yet?

Jay-Z who had his black James Bond swagger pumping, threw a private party at his New York 40/40 last night in which more than a few folk came out to enjoy with he and Beyonce. Joy Bryant, Irv Gotti who seemed to be having some sort of bodily reaction in the pic (Number 2 anyone?), Farnsworth Bentley, Kendu, Fab who throws up the same peace sign in every photo, NBA rookie Kevin Durant, Pepa and her manish swag, and Alex Rodriguez all enjoyed the party.

Oh No You Didn’t B*tch

Posted by Media Outrage on May 7, 2008

Star Jones is probably a little unnerved after finding out that Barbara “the brotha boner” Walters included her gastric bypass surgery which shrunk Star from a tripleĀ  double digit to a single digit size. Here’s what Star had to say:

“It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair, and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character.”

Mediaoutrage– That is straight comedy the way Star attacked Barbara’s age with that whole “in the sunset of her life” line. Classic. Well everyone knows Star got the surgery done and that’s why she resembles J.J. Evans with a wig so it’s not really a cheap shot. But oh well.
