Repercussions

Posted by Media Outrage on June 24, 2008

Thanks to the advancement of technology and the way you can make a video watching grass grow and post it to YouTube or somewhere else and then it go viral having millions of people see it all within a day’s time, Shaq has now had his special deputy’s badge in Maricopa County snatched back after being videotaped freestyling while dissing Kobe Bryant and using the N word.

Via Yahoo Sports:

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center’s use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in January and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse earlier this month.

“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”

“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. A call to the Suns on Tuesday seeking comment from O’Neal was referred to his public relations firm, which didn’t immediately respond.

Arpaio, who describes himself as “America’s Toughest Sheriff” and is best known for feeding jail inmates green bologna, clothing them in pink underwear, and making them work on chain gangs, said he didn’t expect his actions would teach Shaq a lesson. But he hoped he learns that as a role model who wants to someday be a full-time sheriff, he needs to know his words matter.

“Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t think that either conduct should be out there publicly, even if media wasn’t there,” Arpaio said.

Will Smith and Morgan Freeman visit the “Late Show”

Posted by Media Outrage on June 24, 2008

Will Smith and Morgan Freeman visited the Late Show with David Letterman yesterday. As always Will was wearing that smile that has ingratiated him to so many adoring fans. One thing we can say about Will is he is a very positive brother who works extremely hard to maintain the level of success he’s earned. Morgan has definitely come a long way from his legendary role as Joe Clark in Lean On Me which we might add was one of the best movies ever.

Terrorizer

Posted by Media Outrage on June 24, 2008

Nate Dogg was arrested yesterday morning for, let’s just call it tripping the f*ck out on his ex-wife. SMH. He was apparently on some cops and robbers sh*t, while chasing her down on the 405 freeway in his car. He’s definitely been watching too much Knight Ryder. So not only was this fool chasing her car with in his car, but he was also doing this crazy ish with a suspended license and making terroristic threats.

Via SOHH:

According to TMZ, Nate Dogg (born Nathaniel Hale) was apprehended around 8:30 a.m. PT yesterday while pursuing his estranged wife on the 405 freeway in L.A. Authorities say the women phoned into 911 in a frantic call as she was driving, claiming the singer was making death threats against her and dangerously following her as she drove down the highway. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stopped both vehicles, and after interviewing both parties, arrested Nate Dogg for making terrorist threats and driving with a suspended license.

Mediaoutrage– He either forgot to take his medication or needs to be on some heavy sh*t ASAP! Nate Dogg was released on $50,000 bond this morning.

He’s back at it

Posted by Media Outrage on June 24, 2008

It didn’t take long for Don Imus to expose his racist point of view. Monday on his radio show he and sports announcer Warner Wolf were conversing about Pac Man Jones changing his name. Listen Here.

The dialogue:

Wolf: “Defensive back Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, recently signed by the Cowboys. Here’s a guy suspended all of 2007 following a shooting in a Vegas night club.”
Imus: “Well, stuff happens. You’re in a night club, for God’s sake. What do you think’s gonna happen in a night club? People are drinking and doing drugs, there are women there, and people have guns. So, there, go ahead.”

Wolf: “He’s also been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005.”

Imus:”What color is he?”

Wolf:”He’s African-American.”

Imus: “Well, there you go. Now we know.”
