President Obama and First Lady Michelle are being greeted over in London this morning, by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and wife Sarah.  Barack and Michelle look oh so fresh as usual while handling the countries’ business.  For once the White House has style.  Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also accompanied them on the trip.

Senator to Hillary Clinton: Hell To The Naw!

Yesterday Hillary Clinton’s confirmation for Secretary of State was put on pause by a Texas Senator.

The confirmation of Hillary Rodham Clinton to be secretary of state will be held up for at least a day due to the objection of a single senator. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said he wanted “a full and open debate and an up-or-down vote on Sen. Clinton’s nomination.”

He said important questions remain unanswered concerning the foundation headed by former President Bill Clinton “and its acceptance of donations from foreign entities. Transparency transcends partisan politics and the American people deserve to know more.”

Salary Cut

Hillary Clinton is getting a salary cut with her new position as Secretary of State for this reason.

A Race Against Time…

With time running out before she officially takes over the position of Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is racing to raise millions of dollars in order to pay back massive campaign debt. The Hatch act restricts involvment by federal employees in that sort of thing. This is a long read folks.

With just weeks before President-elect Barack Obama is sworn in, his choice for secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, is scrambling to reduce massive campaign debt before federal ethics rules prohibit her from doing so.

Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, will headline a major debt retirement event in New York Dec. 15 with “Ugly Betty” star America Ferrera as master of ceremonies. Tickets range from $50 to $1,000, with top donors earning a premium seat and a backstage photo with the former first lady.

Clinton also plans to sell a children’s book, titled “Dreams Taking Flight” by author Kathleen Krull, about her pioneering candidacy. Clinton’s mother, Dorothy Rodham, planned to send an e-mail to supporters later this week asking them to purchase the book to help raise funds to pay down Clinton’s debt.

Only days after Hillary Clinton was officially named Secretary of State, former President Bill Clinton has reassured the press and public that he will play an invisible background role, in Hillary’s decision making. Well he really said that she’s running the show and he’s just there to provide the support she needs to properly run her power hungry position.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said Wednesday he will have “very little” to do with the decisions his wife \ Hillary will face as secretary of state in the incoming Obama administration.

“I’ll just try to be a helpful sounding board to her, but I don’t think I’ll do any more than that,” Clinton told CNN during a trip to Hong Kong.

Clinton said his wife learned she was being considered for the Cabinet post by reading it in the newspaper. He said he would remain in the background unless Obama “asks me to do something specific, which I’m neither looking for nor closed to.”

 

“I think she made the right decision, but for her it was hard. She adored being in the Senate,” he said.

President-Elect Barack Obama will name Hillary Clinton Secretary of State. Yep the choice has been made and Hillary Clinton will finally get a position in the White House.

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama plans to nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state after Thanksgiving, a new milestone for the former first lady and a convergence of two political forces who fought hard for the presidency.

One week after the former primary rivals met secretly to discuss the idea of Clinton becoming the nation’s top diplomat, an Obama adviser said Thursday that the two sides were moving quickly toward making it a reality, barring any unforeseen problems.
