Secret Interviews…

Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Taylor Branch, is coming out with a book with a whole bunch of secret interviews with former President and “head” fein, Bill Clinton.  The interviews are some of Clinton’s most private thoughts and will offer insight into his presidency.  It is said that Bill Clinton has expressed concern about some of the things written in the book.  Homie might want to fall back and delete some ish before he winds up in somebody’s cemetary…..  Peep below:

BALTIMORE — The call from the White House usually would come in late afternoon. President Clinton had a few hours open in the evening. Could he come over? Taylor Branch, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and civil rights historian, would pick up a notepad of questions and two microcassette recorders and drive his truck down Interstate 95 to Washington. Parking on the South Lawn, he would head to the White House family quarters for interviews so secret Clinton stored the tapes of them in his sock drawer.

What followed sometimes seemed like one of the bull sessions the two had two decades earlier when they shared an apartment in Austin, running George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign in Texas.

In these interviews and a new book that has followed, Branch says he tried to capture Clinton’s unvarnished perspective on the events swirling around his presidency, from the consequential to the occasionally comic.

Reluctant to discuss the affair with Monica Lewinsky that led to his impeachment, Clinton once lamented that it occurred when he felt sorry for himself and that he “just cracked” under the pressure of personal and political setback.

American Journalists Pardoned By N. Korea

American Journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling were pardoned today by N. Korea.  Both had been sentenced on June 12th, to 12 years of hard labor.  Former President Bill Clinton journeyed to North Korea and met with Kim Jong II about a possible pardon and release.  The meeting was obviously very successful.

A Race Against Time…

With time running out before she officially takes over the position of Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is racing to raise millions of dollars in order to pay back massive campaign debt. The Hatch act restricts involvment by federal employees in that sort of thing. This is a long read folks.

With just weeks before President-elect Barack Obama is sworn in, his choice for secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, is scrambling to reduce massive campaign debt before federal ethics rules prohibit her from doing so.

Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, will headline a major debt retirement event in New York Dec. 15 with “Ugly Betty” star America Ferrera as master of ceremonies. Tickets range from $50 to $1,000, with top donors earning a premium seat and a backstage photo with the former first lady.

Clinton also plans to sell a children’s book, titled “Dreams Taking Flight” by author Kathleen Krull, about her pioneering candidacy. Clinton’s mother, Dorothy Rodham, planned to send an e-mail to supporters later this week asking them to purchase the book to help raise funds to pay down Clinton’s debt.

Only days after Hillary Clinton was officially named Secretary of State, former President Bill Clinton has reassured the press and public that he will play an invisible background role, in Hillary’s decision making. Well he really said that she’s running the show and he’s just there to provide the support she needs to properly run her power hungry position.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said Wednesday he will have “very little” to do with the decisions his wife \ Hillary will face as secretary of state in the incoming Obama administration.

“I’ll just try to be a helpful sounding board to her, but I don’t think I’ll do any more than that,” Clinton told CNN during a trip to Hong Kong.

Clinton said his wife learned she was being considered for the Cabinet post by reading it in the newspaper. He said he would remain in the background unless Obama “asks me to do something specific, which I’m neither looking for nor closed to.”

 

“I think she made the right decision, but for her it was hard. She adored being in the Senate,” he said.
