Michael Vick could be released earlier than expected

Michael Vick could be released from prison earlier than expected and possibly return to the NFL.

Via Yahoo Sports:

“Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick could be getting out of federal prison much earlier than anticipated after applying for a prison-monitored drug rehabilitation program and evidently being moved into the program in Leavenworth, Kan.

The program could have Vick out of prison by the end of this year and perhaps back in the NFL by the 2009 season.

A source confirmed to Yahoo! Sports on Friday that Vick has applied to the program, which is run only at the federal facility at Leavenworth. An official with the Federal Bureau of Prisons said Friday that Vick was being transported to Leavenworth.

Under the program, Vick could be released after serving only 12 months of the 23-month sentence Vick was given Dec. 10 in Richmond, Va. It’s unclear exactly when Vick would be released because it’s unclear whether the 12-month term starts from when he voluntarily began serving his prison term in November or whether it starts from when he enters Leavenworth.

As it stands, Vick’s 23-month prison term could translate to a release in the summer of 2009, putting his attempts at a return to the NFL for that season in jeopardy. But if Vick were to be released in late 2008 or early 2009, his opportunity to return to the league after missing only two seasons would be boosted significantly. Members of Vick’s camp continue to hope that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will decline to tack on a lengthy suspension following Vick’s release from prison.”

Lebron tops Forbes list of 20 richest superstars under age 25

Posted by Media Outrage on December 5, 2007

Lebron James

Lebron James has topped Forbes list of the 20 richest superstars under age 25.

Lebron banked $27 million in between June 2006 and June 2007 to solidify his top ranking. He is on pace to earn more than last year’s #1 money man in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant who made $32.9 million. Lebron just signed a lucrative 4-year $60 million deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers that will pay him $13 million this year. It’s a great thing to see these young athletes earn such great livings since the leagues and franchises not to mention the endorsement companies make bundles off of marketing them. Just wish Magic, Larry, and Michael would have been earning these types of lucrative salaries.

Reggie BushMaria Sharapova

22 year old Reggie Bush running back for the New Orleans Saints, grabbed the #2 spot with $24 million last year. Tennis ace Maria Sharapova landed at #3 with $23 million, and only $3.8 million of that was from winnings and that makes Sharapova the world’s highest paid female athlete. Breaking News:Redskins safety Sean Taylor shot in Florida, in critical condition!!!

Posted by Media Outrage on November 26, 2007

Washington Redskins star safety Sean Taylor was in critical condition after he was shot at his Florida home Monday, police said.

Officers were dispatched to Taylor’s home at about 1:45 a.m. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said. He didn’t know what part of his body was injured.

Taylor’s family asked that no information about his condition be released, hospital spokeswoman Lorraine Nelson said.

Taylor has a home in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay that he bought two years ago. The 24-year-old player is in his fourth season with the Redskins after playing at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003. He leads the team with five interceptions but has missed the last two games because of a knee injury.

Update:

Washington Redskins star safety Sean Taylor was shot in the leg at his home Monday and was bleeding heavily, and police said he was in critical condition. They are investigating a possible robbery.

Officers were sent to Taylor’s home at about 1:45 a.m. after his girlfriend called 911 and said he was shot in his lower body, Lt. Nancy Perez said. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, she said, but did not disclose how many times he was shot.

Richard Sharpstein, an attorney who represented Taylor in a criminal case, said the player’s father told him his son had been shot in the leg and there was much bleeding because the femoral artery was severed.

“It could have been a possible burglary; it could have been a possible robbery,” Perez said. “It has not been confirmed as yet.”

Michael Vick puts $4.5million country club home on the market!

Michael Vick’s lakefront Sugarloaf Country Club home is up for sale for $4.5 million.

According to a listing posted at Realtor.com, the suspended Falcons quarterback’s seven-bedroom, 8.5-bath mansion at 2927 Darlington Run in Duluth has an estimated monthly mortgage payment of more than $23,000.

According to Gwinnett County property records, Vick purchased the home in April of 2005 for $3.77 million.

The European-styled home inside the prestigious gated Gwinnett County golfing community features two fireplaces, a “four-plus” car garage, Cathedral ceilings, his and her closets and master bath, a “12-plus seat” dining room and hardwood floors on its 1.5 acres.

Property taxes are approximately $26,700 per year.

Agents at Waters Realty Group where the house is listed did not return phone calls Friday.

Vick could be parting with the property because of mounting legal woes. In August, Vick pleaded guilty to dogfighting charges in federal court in Virginia. He is due to be sentenced in December.

The suspended NFL player also faces state dogfighting charges in Virginia and could be ordered to give back almost $20 million in signing bonuses to the Falcons.

Wachovia Bank, meanwhile, has filed a federal lawsuit against Vick, alleging that he defaulted on a $1.3 million loan for the Tasting Room, an East Point restaurant and wine store.
